Hiking & Camping
Trail of mud near Cataract Lake in central Colorado I was showing off my skills without any assistance. I'm a strong hiker. I was able to straddle the muddy trail putting one foot on each side.
A view from Hoosier Pass looking at Mt Lincoln. We hiked up to the right of the center where the cliffs are and then climbed up the slope to the ridge and then along that to the peak.
Taken on a backpacking trip into the wilderness. I had no idea this was going to be part of the trip. Main idea is to keep a steady pace and don't look anywhere other than the trunk of the tree. No dogs on this trip!
I made it through the slot canyon before my buddies. I didn't have my good camera with at that point, just my point and shoot.
Tent is set up near Shrine Pass in the Holy Cross Wilderness. The North Star is above the tent near the top. You can tell because all the stars in the sky are circling around it.
Star Trails in sky with tent in foreground lit by headlamp. 42 minute exposure. Make sure there is no moon if you are looking for certain types of pics. Much better to have tent lit by a headlamp that to have everything in the background just a little dim from moonlight.
When on a backpacking trip my friend John Fielder is talking with some young hikers probably helping them in some way. He was so nice to lots of people.
I was leading the Llamas on our hike through the wilderness. They were pretty calm eating the grass and licking up water along the way. Very low maintenance. They didn't have to carry their own food... they snacked along the route
Thats me taking some photos with my friend John. He shot a couple photos of me shooting a grand scene. Wonderful conditions.
Llamas carried our overnight gear such as tents, sleeping bags and cooking gear several miles. I think our trip was 25 miles over three nights. Very peaceful. Wouldn't want any food next to them since that might attract wildlife.
Cottonwood Pass. Road crosses Continental Divide at over 12,000 feet and is closed from November through May because of snow.
Camp in Rawah Wilderness in Front Range Colorado. We set up camp below some mountains surrounding us several feet higher. Very peaceful. With the large mountains around us it felt as though the area around us was small and hidden from the rest of the mountains.

I was hiking up Pikes Peak which is one of the 14ers(which are 14,000 ft tall peaks) click on the link below.
My true passion for the outdoors came to be, when I spent much of my childhood traveling among the National Parks of the west coast, USA. This gave me ample opportunities to be enthralled by all of the intricacies I saw in nature around me. As I got older, I developed an interest in nature photography which became a cherished hobby during my years living in Colorado. I believe that being engulfed in nature is both a physical and emotional healing experience. I use my photos as a way to give the outside world a glimpse into its outstanding beauty. I recently have learned about a practice called 'Forest Bathing', which simply refers to spending time in the forest or nature being used as a form of 'medicine'. Taking in the forest atmosphere. Here is a website that explains more details: Forest Bathing(Time magazine), and there is a book listed there which I have and feel that it is very good at explaining how/why nature heals in so many ways we are not aware of.
I feel that it has been very helpful in my life of challenging medical history and rehab....with my knee surgery in April of '23 and then the second because the first didn't work in July '23. So far its going good but not totally healed yet. We'll see, cross my fingers and do what PT and Dr say. Its not going to be perfect as the professional athletes show us by having reoccurring knee problems later in their careers. Will post something later as an update. More likely to post something on Facebook sooner. So check that out too. Link is below.
